Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whatever part of the world you’re in.
This is Jonathan Satovsky of Satovsky Asset Management and on today’s episode of Seeking Wisdom, Wealth and Wellness, I wanted to relay a little story.
I got a call yesterday from a woman who I haven’t spoken to in 30 years. And she said, “I wanted to call you and reach out. And I wanted to tell you, thank you. You may not remember me, but I met you 30 years ago when you worked at American Express at the Jacob Javits Center, and you got me to save $50 a month for my retirement. And you were so enthusiastic and so expressive about the experience that I basically went forward and followed your advice. And I’ve been thinking about you every day since. I just retired. I’m in North Carolina. I’m living a great life and I looked you up and I googled you and wanted to seek you out. And I wanted to call and say, thank you.”
And I was blown away. This was the greatest thing in the world. And I said, “It’s fascinating because oftentimes I work with a lot of people I love, people I’m really close to.” And she related a story to me, another story that may be helpful. She said, “I’m not that biblical, but in the biblical story, Jesus basically couldn’t talk to people in his town because everyone was like, ‘Ah, you’re a carpenter’s son. You know nothing.’ But he was able to bless and help people that were strangers.”
I only tell that story anecdotally, because the truth is, oftentimes the people closest to you can’t hear you. That doesn’t mean you can’t keep inspiring strangers, because you never know the impact you’ll have on your path to wisdom, wealth and wellness. Have a great day.
